The best way from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to Shenzhen depends on where in Shenzhen you are going, how much luggage you have and when you land. 1. Private car

A pre-booked car meets you after immigration and baggage collection, crosses at a checkpoint selected for your destination and the time, and drops you at the address.

2. Cross-boundary coach from the airport

HKIA lists cross-boundary coaches from its Mainland transport counters to Shenzhen Bay and Lok Ma Chau (Huanggang), among other destinations. You ride the coach to the Hong Kong side of the port, clear both sides, then continue in Shenzhen by taxi, metro or the coach company's onward service.

3. Airport Express and MTR to the border

Take the Airport Express towards the city, change to the MTR East Rail line and ride to Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau for the border. After clearance you are in Luohu or Futian and can take the Shenzhen Metro. This suits one or two people with light luggage going to central Shenzhen. It involves several changes and stairs or escalators with bags.

4. SkyPier ferry to Shekou or Fuyong
