How to Get from Hong Kong Airport to Macau

There are three practical ways from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to Macau: a private car over the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge (HZMB), a local bus to the bridge's Hong Kong Port followed by the HZMB shuttle bus, or — for eligible transfer passengers — the SkyPier ferry. The airport is right next to the bridge, so road options are quick. An ordinary Hong Kong taxi cannot take you across the border.

1. Private car over the HZMB

A pre-booked private car meets you after immigration and baggage collection, crosses at the HZMB Hong Kong Port and Macao Port, and drops you at your hotel's lobby. The HZMB Hong Kong Port is open 24 hours, so this also works for late flights.

See the Hong Kong Airport to Macau private car page.

2. Local bus to the HZMB, then the shuttle bus

  1. After arrival, take a local bus from the airport to the HZMB Hong Kong Port. The Transport Department introduced route B4 between the airport and the HZMB Hong Kong Port; it is a short ride.
  2. Clear Hong Kong departure at the HZMB Hong Kong Port.
  3. Take the HZMB shuttle bus (often called the "gold bus") across the bridge to the Macao Port. It runs around the clock.
  4. Clear Macau arrival, then take a taxi, public bus or hotel shuttle to your hotel.

Fares are per person. Check the bus operator and the official shuttle bus site for current fares and frequencies. Read the HZMB bus guide for details.

3. SkyPier ferry (transfer passengers only)

HKIA's SkyPier connects the airport with ports in Macau and the Greater Bay Area. HKIA states SkyPier is for transfer passengers, not passengers starting their trip in Hong Kong, and it notes that some services can be temporarily unavailable. If you are arriving on a flight and going on to Macau, you may be able to transfer airside without Hong Kong immigration — but only if a sailing is operating, you buy the ticket at the transfer desk, and your baggage arrangement works.

Read Hong Kong Airport to Macau without immigration before relying on it.

Why not just take a taxi?

A normal Hong Kong taxi is licensed for Hong Kong roads. It can take you to the HZMB Hong Kong Port, but it cannot cross the bridge into Macau. For door-to-door travel, you need a vehicle with cross-boundary permits. See Hong Kong Airport to Macau by taxi.
